Angus Wood Blacksmith

The Forge

Nestled in the Devon valley of my family’s cider farm, a recently restored store farm building now sits my forge and workshop.

After approaching a local blacksmith for some part time work, amongst the workings of the forge, I quickly realised this was the trade for me. During this training I was taught a wide range of blacksmithing techniques. Iโ€™ll be forever grateful for the knowledge he has passed onto me.

Growing up exploring the apple orchards and being surrounded by my creative parents in the craft world, has been a huge inspiration. From a very young age, I always had a fascination for tinkering with fire and metal, with my obsession for metalwork developing during my early years at school behind the lathe in the tech department.

Since starting my own forge, I primarily use a combination of contemporary methods and traditional blacksmithing techniques dating back over 3,500 years. I use an array of mixed metals and mixed materials to manufacture ergonomic and eye catching pieces and commission based work. With steel emitting 1.8 tons of Co2 for every ton produced, to lessen my carbon output, I aim to recycle and repurpose as much metal as possible. Out of the forge comes functional home and kitchenware pieces, alongside architectural ironwork and furniture.
